At Roy Hill, we are committed to ensuring everyone is treated fairly, with respect and dignity. We believe our strength is in our diversity, where we benefit from the different talents, experiences and perspectives our staff bring to Roy Hill, which aligns with our values of Lead, Care, Think and Perform.
We value diversity and are committed to providing employment and business opportunities for local Indigenous people, and particularly with the Nyiyaparli, the Palyku and the Kariyarra people – Traditional Owner groups with which we have Native Title Agreements.
Our four advisers who represent the Kariyarra, Nyiyaparli and Palyku people, work across our business to develop and promote employment prospects and identify training opportunities for Indigenous people.
We also have an adviser for Indigenous Engagement based at the mine site who provides support and guidance to Indigenous employees and their leaders.
Our Traditional Owners also provide support to Indigenous people seeking employment with Roy Hill.
We value diversity and fully support the members of our workforce who are part of the LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex) community. Our approach to diversity means we’re committed to building a culture of inclusion, understanding and respect. We want every one of our colleagues to feel empowered to be their whole self at work and achieve their full potential, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
We are proud to be a member of Pride in Diversity, an Australian not-for-profit organisation that supports employers and employees in all aspects of LGBTI workplace inclusion.
Every year we compile and lodge an annual public report for the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. This is in line with both the requirements of the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, and our strong commitment to build a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Our overall development approach is to support and encourage all of our employees so that every staff member can contribute and realise their full potential.
The aim of gender equality in the workplace is to achieve equal outcomes for men and women. To achieve this, we will:
- provide equal pay for women and men for work of equal or comparable value,
- provide development opportunities for both women and men into leadership roles, and
- eliminate discrimination on the basis of gender, particularly in relation to family and caring responsibilities for both women and men.
Our approach to recruitment aims to attract a broad range of people outside of mining, with a focus on the right attitude and values to help us meet future challenges.
Our ‘greenies’ come from diverse backgrounds ranging from farmers to chefs and everything in between. The one thing they have in common is their enthusiasm, willingness to learn and an understanding of our values.
